Exactly right, Corboy!!

"One of us wrote,"

"What price is your bliss? How can you say you have not been
harmed when you are so cruelly indifferent to the pain suffered by your fellow seekers?

Have you considered that your bliss, your good times with the guru were built on the backs of devotees who were screamed at, overworked, housed in bad conditions, denied pensions to suport them in their old age after giving up their working lives to the guru who treated you as a favorite?

"What price did others pay for YOUR bliss?

"If you dont care about this, you were harmed by this guru. You were harmed by being made as selfish as any addict who rips off family and friends just to buy the next bag of heroin or crack rock."

And THAT, dear Readers, is a fitting explanation for why the INNER CIRCLE still exists--they got theirs...didn’t they?

Which is why I say- you buy into Butler’s brand of heroin (Bliss)?
You only have one way to go....

Youtube videos educating people about the possible dangers of the fraud group Ayahuasca Healings, run by Christopher "Trinity" de Guzman (along with his fake shaman Kumooja Banyan Tree / Marc Roland Shackman), could be very helpful. Trinity uses his own sales videos very effectively to lure people in. Trinity's Youtube channel is called Ayahuasca Healings.

A former insider says the ayahuasca brew is sold to Trinity's operation in bottles, already brewed. Neither Trinity or Marc participate in the brewing. The source is said to be "pure", but who knows what that really means in this case?

Marc Roland Shackman is from the U.K., he performs as a stereotypical fake disrespectful "shaman". Franziska Hoffman, from Switzerland, performs as a "medicine woman".

Trinity, from Canada, is now not allowed back in USA, because of illegal business practices. The feds know that Ayahuasca Healings is a business, not an authentic church community. Trinity runs this money making operation from Peru.

Customers have been charged quite a bit, some up to 3 thou, for san pedro cactus, ayahuasca, New Age nonsense called Heart Energy Medicine taught by Marc [balancingbetweenworlds.com] a fake sweat lodge, and a few nights in a muddy tipi.

Trinity and Marc want money and power.

If someone gets hurt, Trinity is going to blame the victim. Trinity is not taking responsibility for the damage he has already done.

Several people paid for an upcoming retreat and then were told it was cancelled. Trinity won't refund their money. He is stringing them along with promises that another center will open in Mexico.

But it won't be legal for him to sell ayahuasca in Mexico either.

People get fooled by Trinity's spiritual sounding talk. They apologize for him and say we should be nice to him, we should be compassionate for him and work gently to help him see the error of his ways. I think that is b.s.

I have compassion for those that Trinity and Marc victimize and I stand with them.

My goal is to help with the education process. Robust discussion, research, criticism, questioning, and education are all good.

Trinity says we should trust him, and surrender. That is exactly what we should not do.

Today, we are being taught to concern ourselves with the origin and cleanliness of the food we consume.

Is our food clean or contaminated with toxins? Is our food produced in humane and sustainable conditions?

It is time to take this further and ask whether our favorite foods, cosmetics and medications (eg Ayurveda) are generating revenues that support oppressive agendas or are on FDA watchlists.

I recently purchased an Indian brand of ghee (clarified butter), then had to throw it out. Why? Because I did some belated research and found that that product, labelled as butter, actually contained hydrogenated fat -- and was banned from import to the USA by the Food and Drug Administration!

There was an interesting Radio 4 programme about meditation and some of the unpleasant side effects. It was made my Jolyon Jenkins. He starts talking about 10 day retreats and people suffering panic attacks and other psychological problems. He doesn't mention Goenka but I think that's what he's talking about.

I'm not sure about the 'boot camp' approach to meditation. Especially when it involves lack of sleep. Also, it does seem that you're not told in advance that you have to hand over your keys and mobile till the end of the 10 days.

Does Goenka teach just meditation on breath + scanning the body?

Please keep us posted, OP.

I found their website. It looks like there's no spiritual component at all, it's about teaching tantric technique, or "advanced sex", as the leader calls it. If things are getting out of hand, it sounds like the leader doesn't have any teaching or rules or precautions to ensure that things don't get out of control. There are people who give tantric sex workshops in the US, but as far as I can tell, they're well-managed, respectful of personal boundaries, and so on.

I have been listening to this video ...and this insider from the cult as very interesting points of view...the guy seems sincere

The brew cost about $7.00 per serving ...so a $1500 dollrs seminars is just ridiculously costly ..its a scam ...and TNT Guzman was talking about a retreat of 100 people at each ceremony ...thats $150,000

this video reveal that no one in those little leaders as more than 3 years experiences ...DANGEROUS PROPOSITION.
I have been to many many Santo Daime meetings ...its just a $50 dollrs donation and people I am doing this with have been doing this work for 25 or 30 years
and the Padrinos who are the elders ...even longer .
I have seen myself works call ILLUMINATION work ....where (because ayawaska open up the psychy to other dimentions in the ASTRAL ....some participants had there bodies overtaken by DEMONIC entities ...or lost souls....and it was very very scary ro see those participants scream like hell and roll on the floor
the shaman PADRINO was sufficiently expert and prepare to deal with such situations...and help the participant free himself from such entities .
Guzman would want his clients to believe its all light and love ....but once a client is open to astral beings and an evil spirit takes over the bodies of participants ...WHAT THE HELL will little pretender shaman do to help the client rolling on the floor in pain ?IT COULD BE A DISASTER....a total mental break down...only a few santo daime padrinos do this type of work ....most stay way away from those spooks ...I have personallt denouce a Padrino doing this work with neophote ...and he as stop and apologise to me and others that where part of this very frightening work....So TNT guzman would want you to believe its all peace ..light ...love ...its just more of his lies and deceits
KARMA will catch up with him sooner than later

corboy and Vox ~ your posts are golden and full of great points.

Aloha girl’s blog is still on my mind. It is doubtful she had the opportunity to read my open letter. The following is a quote from author Jon Rappoport about group thinking and the cost to the individual. It reminded me of the mind set of Butler followers and their instant rejection of all criticism of their guru.

Quote
Author, Jon Rappoport

I’m not trying to discourage any and every group response—but I am saying, without question, that every major covert op is played in order to eradicate the idea of the individual. This is basic mind control. This is the reason mind control exists: to elevate “group” over “individual.”

Mind control tries to make individuals think of themselves as helpless pieces on the chessboard.

Mind control tries to make individuals surrender their free will.

Mind control tries to make individuals believe they have no place in the modern world.
Rather, they must be part of a group; otherwise, they’re invisible.

If you could walk into a person’s mind, as if it were a post office, and if you could get rid of every letter and package that extolled, or surrendered to, The Group, you would see that person rise to a new height. You would see a renewal on a grand scale.

But introduce a fact or idea that challenges The Group and alarms go off. “Reject that fact! Reject it! It’s false! It has to be false! Maintain stability!”

The Butler cult may seem a low level cult compared to some others. One of the most damaging of abuses is done to the children. It comes in the form of shunning, as Rama has described, or with the separation from non-devotee parents and family members.

I was struck by the following article about a much larger and influential group. On the religious spectrum, some offshoots are cultish, while others are just extremely orthodox. Some adherents have been accused of culty craziness, including child abuse, while others are respectable community members. One set thinks their dead Rebbe is the Messiah, while others do not. The point being is that this Chassidic group does not condone typically dangerous cult practices. I would caution any one about getting involved with the Lubavitchers, but their synagogues have governing boards and other checks and balances. Rabbis are not considered infallible.

A liberal view, might even see the Butler cult in the same way. Except with the Butler cult, abuses are policy and institutionalized. I am especially referring to the practice of shunning former members who no longer “believe”. What follows is an interesting article about a Chassidic woman who left the group but retained her relationship with her family. She is lucky. The Butler cult could learn a thing or two from this story…
Leaving Lubavitch

Quote
Chaya Deitsch, Author of “Here and There: Leaving Hasidism, Keeping My Faith"
One of her four sisters still is in the Lubavitch world; the others all have left. The family, though, still is very close. “I give my parents all the credit,” Ms. Deitsch said. “It was all on them, and they said, ‘How else were we going to respond? Your happiness is important to us.
“‘You are our daughter.’”

Simply put, in the Butler cult, your child's happiness is not a priority. You are taught that you are only a semen or egg donor and that all this talk of love, bliss and happiness is reserved for the guru and the after life. A mother's natural love for her child is displaced by fear and hatred of non-devotees.

Aloha girl, I would hope that in the remaining time you have, that instead of wasting your time focusing on your so-called enemies, that you would create meaningful memories for your husband and children, and help to free them from the cult.

Thank you Vera, I have to admit that Aloha Girl’s blog was incredibly disturbing in that, much like the videos that are posted to advertise the so-called Bhakti Yoga Shack- it was filled with this super sweet version of Butler’s wonderful mish-mash dogma of Love and Bliss.....blah blah blah, ad nauseum.
Your recollection of Butler reducing family to just semen and egg-donors reminded me of something else.
Back in the mid to late 80’s after everyone had gotten married (?) sometimes again..the babies started to arrive (poor things).
Do you all remember what was the order of the day?
You know how everyone was told they are not the body?
Well apparently right behind that came- these are not YOUR kids, in fact everyone was told to teach their children to call the parents- er, oh.. the sperm and egg donors- by their devotee name!
There was to be no “mommy" no “daddy”.

That’s right Butler, break down the family unit even more!

Trinity now is adopting a somewhat chastened, subdued tone and says he will reimburse some money. But everyone has to contact him personally through email for details, email is how he markets and persuades, so whether any wrongs will actually fully be righted is yet to be seen.

He no longer is talking about Mexico, now he promises a new retreat center in Peru.

Trinity also still claims that he will offer ayahuasca retreats again if they get a DEA exemption.

They won't get an exemption. But Trinity is still trying to keep people on the hook.

Buyer beware. Please don't be fooled by his words, no matter how earnest. Pay attention to his behavior.

Keep in mind that Trinity & Co will have obtained personal information about each of you.

Be aware if you contact him to get your money back; perhaps what you revealed about yourself may be used to arouse your fear, your guilt, perhaps get you to feel sorry for Trinity.

Those of you who want your money back should consider communicating with each other privately. If you contact Trinity, keep track of what he tells you. Then,
share that with others in your group to see if he uses the same reply for everyone
or tailors the approach to each petitioner.

Remember, you may have revealed private information. You did this in good faith. You have every right that it be kept confidential -- and that it never be used against you.

You also have the right to be re-reimbursed.

It is my opinion that one does not lose one's human rights just because
one has embarked upon the spiritual path.

It is also my opinion that human heart are not playthings, not even for those persons who claim to be enlightened.

A grim take home lesson for us is that in the spiritual market place there are
some persons who have the loveliest of smiles, the gifts of charisma and eloquence but who do believe that seekers lack human rights, lack human dignity and lose all right to expect fair dealing and justice.

Here is an example of this argument that seekers lack basic human rights.

Quote

Ken Wilber

Quote from the foreword to Andrew Cohen's new book What is it in you that brings you to a spiritual teacher in the first place?

It's not the Spirit in you, since that is already enlightened and has no need to seek.

No, it is the ego in you that brings you to a teacher.

When it comes to spiritual teachers, there are those who are safe, gentle, consoling, soothing, caring; and there are the outlaws, the living terrors, the Rude Boys and Nasty Girls of God realization, the men and women who are in your face, disturbing you, terrifying you, until you radically awaken to who and what you really are.

And may I suggest?: choose your teachers carefully.

If you want encouragement, soft smiles, ego stroking, gentle caresses of your self-contracting ways, pats on the back and sweet words of solace, find yourself a Nice Guy or Good Girl, and hold their hand on the sweet path of stress reduction and egoic comfort.

But if you want Enlightenment, if you want to wake up, if you want to get fried in the fire of passionate Infinity, then, I promise you: find yourself a Rude Boy or a Nasty Girl, the ones who make you uncomfortable in their presence, who scare you witless, who will turn on you in a second and hold you up for ridicule, who will make you wish you were never born, who will offer you not sweet comfort but abject terror, not saccharin solace but scorching angst, for then, just then, you might very well be on the path to your own Original Face.

Most of us, I suspect, prefer our spiritual teachers to be of the Nice-Guy variety. Soft, comforting, non-threatening, a source of succor for a worn and weary soul, a safe harbor in the samsaric storm. There is nothing wrong with that, of course; spirituality comes in all sorts of flavors, and I have known some awfully Nice Guys.

But if the flavor tends toward Enlightenment instead of consolation, if it drifts away from soothing dreams toward actually waking up, if it rumbles toward a God realization and not egoic fortification, then that demands a brutal, shocking death: a literal death of your separate self, a painful, frightening, horrifying dissolution—a miraculous extinction you will actually witness as you expand into the boundless, formless, radical Truth that will pervade your every cell and drench your being to the core and expand what you thought was your self until it embraces the distant galaxies. For only on the other side of death lies Spirit, only on the other side of egoic slaughter lies the Good and the True and the Beautiful.

\"You will come in due course to realize that your true glory lies where you cease to exist,\" as the illustrious Sri Ramana Maharshi constantly reminded us.

Your true glory lies on the other side of your death, and who will show you that? Not the Nice Guys and not the Good Girls. They don't want to hurt your feelings. They don't want to upset you. They are here to whisper sweet nothings in your ear and place consolation prizes in the outstretched hand of the self-contraction, balm for a war-torn weary ego, techniques to prop it up in its constant battle with the world of otherness. In a sense, it's very easy being a Nice-Guy teacher: no muss, no fuss, no wrestling with egoic resistance and exhausting confrontation. Be nice to the ego, pat it on the back, have it count its breaths, hum a few mantras.

Rude Boys know better. They are not here to console but to shatter, not to comfort but to demolish. They are uncompromising, brutal, laser-like. They are in your face until you recognize your Original Face—and they simply will not back off, they will not back down, they will not let up until you let go—radically, fully, completely, unhesitatingly. They live as Compassion—real compassion, not idiot compassion—and real compassion uses a sword more often than a sweet. They deeply offend the ego (and the greater the offense, the bigger the ego). They are alive as Truth, they are everywhere confronted with egos, and they choose the former uncompromisingly.

Fritz Perls, the founder of Gestalt Therapy, used to say that nobody comes to a therapist to get better (although they always say they do); they really come to perfect their neurosis. Just so, nobody comes to a spiritual teacher to get Enlightenment (although everybody claims they do); rather, they come to a spiritual teacher to learn more subtle and sophisticated egoic games—in this case, the game of \"Look at me being really spiritual.\" After all, what is it in you that brings you to a spiritual teacher in the first place?

It's not the Spirit in you, since that is already enlightened and has no need to seek. No, it is the ego in you that brings you to a teacher: you want to see yourself in the presence of the spiritual game, you want to meet yourself tomorrow as a realized being—in plain language, you want your ego to continue into a spiritual paradise.

And what's a poor teacher to do, confronted with such egoic cunning? Everybody who comes to a spiritual teacher comes egoically motivated. And teachers have two choices in the face of this onslaught of the separate selves, this conference of the self-contractions: they can play to the audience, or they can blow the entire building up.

Andrew Cohen is a Rude Boy. He is not here to offer comfort; he is here to tear you into approximately a thousand pieces...so that Infinity can reassemble you, Freedom can replace imprisonment, Fullness can outshine fear.

And that simply will not happen if all you want is consolation, soothing prayers, ruffle-free platitudes, \"It will all be okay.\" Well, it will not be okay if you want Enlightenment. It will, in fact, be hell, and only Rude Boys are rude enough to tell you that, and to show you that—if you can stand the rudeness, stay in the fire, burn clean as Infinity and radiate as the stars."

Trinity is an experienced persuasion marketer.

This may be a form of a ponzi scheme. He rips people off, then gives back some money to people to keep them hooked, then collects even more money.

No, I did not know that the children in the Butler group do not call their parents Mom or Dad. That idea of calling your parents by their first names was a hippie thing, but in this case I guess that it is another way to maintain control. Why not call Mom, "Hey, Egg Donor, what's for breakfast?" and Dad, "Where are the car keys, Sperm Contributor!" But no, they have to call them by their "krishna" names to trigger the thought stopping indoctrination.

This also seems to be a good way to rationalize why so many children in the cult have multiple half siblings and divorces. After all, parents are only walking uteruses and sperm manufacturing plants. Since, your real parent, husband, friend, is only "Krishna", why not?

I can not fathom what it would be like to grow up in a culture where your parents are focused on otherworldly things and imagining a fantasy relationship with a guru. It is even worse that they force this projection on to their children. It's like raising your family with an imaginary friend. Except that Butler is not as harmless as the character in the movie Harvey

Their is no objective biographical truth in the Butler narrative. It is a projection of the follower's fantasies onto a stranger. It is fiction. But it is not just some shit randomly concocted by wishful thinking. It is a well crafted lie promoted cynically by Butler himself. It is the capricious fancy of Butler and his co-conspirators. It's a nice dream, but with no real substance. This is precisely why Butler has been hiding out for so many years. If followers as far off as Poland or the Philippines, or as close as Hawaii really knew how boring, uninspired, and fearful his real life is - it would shatter all their delusions.

Quote
Anna Freud famously said,
“In our dreams we can have our eggs cooked exactly how we want them, but we can’t eat them.”

But Butler is the one eating their dreams.

Butler is literally and figuratively eating both his followers dreams and their eggs.

Quote
Author Kim Brooks
“Do you think,” I asked another friend, “you can fall in love with someone you don’t actually know?”

He laughed. “Of course,” he said. “I think it’s much, much easier that way.”

So followers willingly serve the fantasy because it is easier to live life with false clarity and self righteousness than to deal with the messy world of truth and personal responsibility. The paradox is that when you grapple with reality, you have an opportunity to gain an unimaginable wisdom, a sense of pleasure and empowerment, and a liberality not accessible to the fanatic.

When you can learn to look at things from multiple perspectives you discover that there is no single solution to any problem. You learn that no one is, nor needs to be infallible to do good in the world. You gain flexibility in your thinking and can truly appreciate different people and cultures. You can even love and communicate with family members that do not believe the same as you do.

You are sadly lacking if you think Butler is some kind of spiritual virtuoso. He is not. There are authentic masters who are purposefully obscured from you. Some don't even offer you a religion or a practice, but whose life examples or deeds stand alone to inspire. They are the ones of whom Shakespeare wrote, What a Piece of Work is Man But Butler is like Q in this clip (but without the Continuum and powers). He is fearful that man will catch on to their true capacities, ambitions, and strength.

Old Chris is afraid that if his followers discover the truth of his ordinariness that they will leave.

And they will.

Quote

From Hamlet

Hamlet:
What a piece of work is a man, how noble in reason, how
infinite in faculties, in form and moving how express and
admirable, in action how like an angel, in apprehension how like
a god! the beauty of the world, the paragon of animals—and yet,
to me, what is this quintessence of dust?

...

Polonius:
This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
Farewell, my blessing season this in thee!

Pathos is an important component of persuasion.

Morale Boost to persons seeking to get their money refunded

Be alert. Trinity may find ways to disarm you.

He may listen to you, oh so soulfully. This is a clever tactic. Why? Because spiritual seekers are often kind persons who dislike confrontation.

You may nerve yourself for what you suspect will be an ugly confrontation with Trinity. You may be nervous and tense.

But...if he listens to you and does not throw a scene or fight back, this takes the wind out of your sails. You may then feel relieved and exhausted - and this is what T will count on.

Once he throws you off balance by NOT fighting back, Trinity can utilize the intimate details you disclosed and then use them against you to full advantage.

** Trinity may seemingly take you into his confidence. He may do this by seeming to tell you intimate information, tell you that he ID'd you as special, as having an aptitude that marks you out for a special destiny, or for success in business.

Trinity may claim he is going to tell you things he has never told anyone else, not even his current partners.

He may claim he is going to tell you a big secret. Give you some sort of special treatment.

Do not fall for this it is seduction and flattery. Someone who enraged me pulled exactly this stunt on me, and I fell for it. I paid a very heavy price. This person just happened to know exactly how I ticked and knew just how to exploit this. X had fucked up big time. I went in expecting a scene, and X was oh so respectful, was an exquisite listener, then solemnly told me he had confidential information and at the end of the hour, X made himself look like a hero, and turned me against a friend and the person who had given me information I should have taken seriously. X did all this by not meeting my anger with his anger.

So, learn from this and demand your money back. No other response should be
acceptable. Just your money, in full, with no attitude.

PS If Trinity promises your money back, says he will pay it back, you may let your guard down. He may then contact you and give a sob story. Dont fall for it.

Another trick: Trinity may try to make you feel sorry for him.

The best persuaders know how to get persons they have ripped off to feel sorry for them.

Trinty might tell you about his aging parents who have Alzheimers, who are being abused, left in their excrement in a substandard nursing home and he needs money to rescue them.

This method would make you feel like a vicious abusive person for demanding your money back, make you feel personally responsible for the elder abuse of Trinity's parents.

Or Trinity may tell you of a sibling who has autism and is being tormented in a care facility or who needs special education and tutoring and con you into feeling you are personally responsible for all this if you demand your money back.

Or Trinity may tell you he is in debt because he took out loans to support aging parents, or some other good cause and he will be killed by loansharks if he does not pay them back.

Even if this is true, this is none of your responsibility. None.

Many of us who are spiritual seekers have grown up in families tormented by addiction, mental illness, and we may have been subconsciously trained to
devalue our selves and devalue our own well being and place excessive value on
helping others.

Do not let this be used against you.

Demand your money back and ignore crocodile tears.

You can also see if you and find a tough minded friend who can represent you.

Common are stories of female tourists who, under ayahuasca's stupor, have faced sexual predators posing as healers. A nurse from Seattle says she booked a stay at a lodge run by a gringo shaman two hours outside Iquitos. When she slipped into ayahuasca's trademark "state of hyper-suggestibility," things got weird. "He placed his hands on my breast and groin and was talking a lot of shit to me," she recalls. "I couldn't talk. I was very weak." She said she couldn't confront the shaman. During the next session, he became verbally abusive. Fearing he might hurt her, she snuck off to the river, a tributary of the Amazon, late that night and swam away. She was lucky. In 2010, a 23-year-old German woman traveled to a tiny village called Barrio Florida for three nights of ayahuasca ceremonies. She ended up raped and brutally beaten by a "shaman" and his accomplice, who were both arrested. Last November, a Slovakian woman filed charges against a shaman, claiming she'd been raped during a ceremony at a lodge in Peru.

And that small model of the barren earth
Which serves as paste and cover to our bones.
For God's sake, let us sit upon the ground
And tell sad stories of the death of kings;
How some have been deposed; some slain in war,
Some haunted by the ghosts they have deposed;
Some poison'd by their wives: some sleeping kill'd;
All murder'd: for within the hollow crown
That rounds the mortal temples of a king
Keeps Death his court and there the antic sits,
Scoffing his state and grinning at his pomp,
Allowing him a breath, a little scene,
To monarchize, be fear'd and kill with looks,
Infusing him with self and vain conceit,
As if this flesh which walls about our life,
Were brass impregnable, and humour'd thus
Comes at the last and with a little pin
Bores through his castle wall, and farewell king!
Cover your heads and mock not flesh and blood
With solemn reverence: throw away respect,
Tradition, form and ceremonious duty,
For you have but mistook me all this while:
I live with bread like you, feel want,
Taste grief, need friends: subjected thus,
How can you say to me, I am a king?”

The Voice

Thanks Vera, I had been searching for the Hamlet speech for 3 decades.
Once, late at night, I watched Richard Burton being interviewed on TV.
He was asked which passage was among his favorites to recite and he paused, took a breath and launched into the most exquisite rendition of "What a piece of work is a man.”
It was truly awe-inspiring.

Butler ...is not!
