Re: Richard V. Bellord - Demand for Retraction and Correction of Defamation
Dear Messrs. Jolicoeur and Ranson:
We represent Richard V. Bellord aka Siddha Bellord, a resident of Kailua, Hawaii. In the last few months, you published statements on the Internet representing that Mr'. Bellord was responsible for the death of a diver, Sri Shim, on January 9, 2016, who was hit by a boat off Lanikai near Kailua. As you know, all such statements are false and defamatory in nature.
On or about January 24,2016, Mr. Jolicoeur posted on Facebook a statement representing that Mr. Bellord was the driver of a speeding boat that killed Mr. Shim. Mr. Jolicoeur
specifically alleged that Mr. Bellord was "speeding so fast he could not have seen the swimmers" and that "this is involuntary manslaughter." A copy of the statement is attached. 'We understand
that Mr. Jolicouer published other statements making similar accusations against Mr. Bellord.
For example, we understand that he is the author identified as "dabcult" of a statement posted on the Internet site called Cult Education Institute dated February 4,2076, alleging that "there has been just a few weeks ago aman that died by the hands of Siddha Bellord."
Similarly, on or about February 5, 2016, Mr. Ranson posted under his acknowledged pseudonym Rama Das a statement alleging that Mr. Bellord was the "killer" of Mr. Shim. He specifically stated on the website of the Cult Education Institute that "[a]s far as I understand,
Siddha Bellord, who I believe is the real killer of Sri Shim has fled to New Zealand. He left to
New Zealand a couple of days after the incident accompanied by my brother Laksmana Ranson.
My brother was working security for Chris Butler at 750 Mukulua Dr. [t]he day the death happened and was in direct contact with Siddha in the aftermath. If there are any real authorities
