I know a wonderful, kind, smart, professional man who is one of her disciples. He is devoutly religious and highly devoted to God. I so much want to ask him why he feels he needs an intermediary like Ching Hai. I want him to open his eyes and see the truth. Sadly however, he is too far gone and doesn't see the red flags. These flags consist of an op or Tunis with an extremely indulgent and elaborate lifestyle, nonsensical stories of sacrificing a so-called loving marriage (Really? You love someone so much that you leave them?! I think she preferred the idea of becoming a very wealthy cult leader over marriage.)
Hai had a daughter who committed suicide at the age of 20, This is certainly not to say that decent parents never suffer the loss of a child to suicide but in light of Hai,it does give one pause.
As far as Hai promoting a vegan lifestyle, big deal. Most devout vegans don't know her and don't need her to convince them of the merits of being vegan. I certainly didnt.
As far as my friend is concerned, I'm not entirely convinced he's thrilled with being a cult follower. Something tells me he grew up and realized he doesn't need the likes of Hai. But this is the nature of cult memberships. Easy to join, difficult to leave.
