Re: Mooji a cult?

Some important advice for those intending to travel to India to watch the Tony Moo show for free for a couple of weeks - people with mental illness are warned to stay away!

Apparently Tony's musing can send you completely around the twist, if you are in a vulnerable state already.

From the official Moo site:

• Satsang is not a replacement for any therapy or other medical treatment or diagnosis. If you are currently receiving or have previously received any medical treatment or therapy for issues related to mental health, Satsang may not be suitable for you. If you have a history of serious mental health conditions, it is not advisable to attend the Open Satsang program without ensuring it is reasonably safe to do so. Please check with a specialist healthcare practitioner whether attending the Open Satsang program is suitable for you at this time. More information can be found in the Physical and Mental Well-being FAQs.

and also:

• Occasionally, being in such an environment can adversely affect pre-existing mental health conditions. It may bring up latent traumatic imprints or deep-rooted tendencies in the body-mind, which can trigger strong, seemingly overwhelming, thoughts, emotional responses and behaviour. Satsang may offer an opportunity to recognise, release and transcend these states. However, a participant with a mental health condition may feel overwhelmed by this, and so additional medical and psychiatric support may be required. Please be aware that we are not able to provide this type of support or expertise.

I guess that rules out around half or the regular Moo Cult attendees... numbers are bound to be down.

They make it quite clear that you are on your own with whatever problems arise during the Moo Satsangs - No support is provided.

There is also another funny little piece of advice on the official Moo site: Mooji does not want to hear your personal stories, so keep those to yourself!!

(He will talk about his own stories at length, however, and bore everyone stupid.)
