KOMO/4 reports on the 2008 investigation into brothels operated by Rainbow Love, a 49-year-old Marysville woman again accused of promoting prostitution.

Rainbow Love said she wasn’t doing it for the money, according to police. But the convicted Seattle brothel operator may soon be doing hard time.

Love, 49, dodged jail time in 2010 when she was caught running “temples” in Seattle and the suburbs. Now, though, the Marysville woman could see prison as King County prosecutors accuse her of operating a string of brothels out of apartments in and around Seattle.

Police claim to have – again – put up an undercover detective as an aspiring brothel worker. Love is alleged to have admitted – again, as well – to taking thousands of dollars in prostitution earnings from women she managed.

Love told the undercover “she wasn’t money hungry,” a Seattle detective said in charging papers. “She was doing it for fun.”

Love has now been charged with three counts of second-degree promoting prostitution related to a sting operation conducted in May 2014. Investigators claim to have identified eight women, ranging in age from 24 to 36, working as prostitutes for Love. They contend at least 10 others were working for her as well.

Born Vivian Walker Ellis, Love legally changed her name to mirror her vocation as a sexual spiritualist.

Last prosecuted five years ago, Love had been caught in mid-2008 running a chain of “goddess temples” deemed to be brothels by investigators. Seattle Police Department detectives ran a sting operation targeting the massage parlors in the city’s Eastlake and Greenwood neighborhoods.

Court records indicate detectives launched the operation after a receptionist at the Sacred Temple in Eastlake called the police. The woman told detectives her manager told her she needed to lend a hand – literally – because the other women were busy. She quit instead.
