@corboy: Somewhere else on this board or on the SRFBlacklist we had a discussion about how SRF is "scripted". There's little spontaneous or extemporaneous in SRF teachings, programs, or services. That in itself is not the problem. SRF teachings are a closed system. It's quite predictable what the teachers or lessons say once you know the basic scripts.
If divine revelations or inspiration was "ever-new", endlessly creative, then you might expect a teacher or teachings to be innovative or spontaneous. Nowadays, SRF is about preserving the past, protecting the SRF Teachings, more than creating anything new. It get's boring to go to services or read books after awhile as there's nothing particularly new after awhile and the Guru Yoganandya's words and speeches are highly edited. Yogananda himself sounded like he was a flamboyant and charismatic character, if not controversial at times--he praised Hitler and Mussolini in the 1930s-40s, hung out with celebrities, and so on.
